If you have a day a week - or even a half-day a week - which you would like to fill with a worthwhile experience, Mercy Medical Center has something just for you. There are a variety of volunteer opportunities available to meet your needs, Mercy's needs, and most of all, our patients' needs.

 

Mission and Values Driven

Mercy Medical Center volunteers are a dedicated, caring and diverse group of individuals who offer their time and talents in a manner that reflects the hospital’s mission and values of the Sisters of Mercy.  Volunteers  are represented throughout the Mercy’s downtown campus and community sites in Overlea Lutherville and Reisterstown.

Mercy volunteers play an essential role in contributing to the well being of patients and family members. 

Mercy volunteer roles and assignments are matched with engaged and invested individuals with a desire to advance or contribute their skills and interests.

Volunteers are offered flexible schedules including day, evening and weekend hours.  In appreciation, Mercy offers a daily meal stipend and free, secure on-campus garage parking during a person’s volunteer shift.  Volunteers also have access to healthcare career information.

How Do I Become a Mercy Volunteer?

In addition to participation in an in-person interview, prospective volunteers must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • Commit to a minimum of four hours a week for six consecutive months or the equivalent
  • Complete an application packet
  • Attend orientation and training
  • Provide basic health record information
  • Agree to a background check
